Getting a dog is a big leap. Going from zero to 100 in the responsibility department, many people realize too late that bringing a puppy into the house is an enormous undertaking. They need to play, they need to go outside to potty, they need to chew on something (ideally NOT the couch or your leather boots), and they need to be loved in ways that hoomans never thought were possible. Although that last one comes quite easily once you hold a soft, porky-bellied baby dog in your arms, the rest is fairly daunting.
Assuming dog lovers know what they're doing, getting a puppy is still an undertaking that should be discussed and agreed upon BEFOREHAND in a marriage. No spouse should ever impulsively bring home a living animal, hoping that their partner will take over all of the puppy's care just because they work from home.
This is exactly the conundrum that the woman in this next story faced.

She worked from home, so she was available all day to train a puppy, right? Totally wrong. So wrong that it actually threatened a marriage. Although as they worked through things with the dog, they found that the problems between them weren't just about the puppy.
Ultimately, this puppy would heal a broken marriage in the mysterious ways that only a sweet, adorable, innocent pooch could. And as my eyes well up a little reading this story, so my heart also overflows with wholesomeness. Because the puppy was never truly the one causing strife, and through his innocent toots and adorable snores, he saved this couple from drifting apart.
This puppy may have started as a strife point and a wedge in their relationship, but ultimately, he became the glue that bonded them back together again.
